When “Busting Out of Builder Grade” there are a couple of things you can do to personalize your space. Builder grade homes are usually simple and lack personality, but that doesn’t have to be the case. Let’s transform your builder grade home into a space that feels like you, customized for you!
Pale Oak | Aesthetic White | Marshmellow | Card Room Green | Pewter | Forestwood | Thunder | Nimbus | Kendall Charcoal
Slap a fresh and bold coat of paint on it! This is probably one of the most common and most inexpensive options when you are trying to update that builder grade home. I am always so amazed at how a coat of paint can change the look of an entire room! See above for some paint color options to make your house feel like a home! Oh hardware. Seems easy enough, right? Wrong. We have questions on strictly hardware all. the. time. Here is our best tip- save on your hardware, there is no reason you need to spend $$$ for one drawer pull. Here are some reasonably priced pulls and knobs to help you get over this small hiccup!
Lighting and Photo via Rejuvenation
Switch up that Lowes lighting and go for something a bit more daring and everlasting. I believe lighting is one of the most important factors in a home, when it comes to save or splurge on fixtures I say go for it and splurge!! When we are renovating or designing a home, lighting is the first thing we look at, then we design around the light fixture – lighting can really make or break a room.

Wallpaper is a fun way to add detail to a room. I personally prefer using wallpaper on an accent wall or on the ceiling yeah that’s right, the ceiling! It is often neglected but we think it always has that “wow” effect.
Once you have decided on a couple of things that feel like you, you have turned your builder grade home into your dream home. Remember this won’t all get done in a day but it will be worth it in the end!
