Art is one of the easiest ways to show your personality in your home, but it can also be the most difficult to choose. And it often becomes the one last thing that can sit undone long after the rest of a room is finished. For me, it makes sense to choose artwork as part of a bigger design plan. I would always recommend viewing art in terms of how the whole room will come together.

Art is so subjective and everyone responds differently. I really take time getting to know the clients and sharing a lot of art with them to see what resonates. From there, I pare it down into a detailed, thoughtful curation.

MIX IT UP
Your art should be a variety of styles and textures. If you use on the same type of art in every room it may not easily represent your personality. Instead, consider using a mix of canvases, framed art, oil paintings and prints, etc.

- Think about the room you’re going to place the art in. Do you want it to blend in––or pop?
- What are the colors that are in the room already? Do you want to highlight them?
- What mood are you trying to create in the space? Are you aiming for quirky, calm, fun, classic?
