You guys, did you know that twice per year, the who’s who of the interior design world descend in droves on a tiny town in North Carolina to see everything the furniture industry has to offer? It is truly a sensory overload of the best kind…an actual playground for interior designers. For us at the BANDD, it is one of our only chances to see, touch, and feel some of the beautiful pieces we are recommending to clients throughout the year. I mean, we gotta give those sofas a good “butt test”, right?
This year’s market was extra special because I was invited to join a group of very talented folks on the market’s Design Bloggers Tour. We were hosted in several inspiring showrooms over the course of two days and I’m here to break down all of the fun stuff we saw (crappy iPhone snaps included)!
Jaipur is one of my favorite rug sources out there. They started by connecting people around the world with the talents of the artisans throughout India. They’ve grown over the years from having two looms to thousands. I must say, of the thousands of rugs out there, Jaipur always has some gorgeous patterns, made of the finest materials…with fabulous customer service to boot.
Our next stop was Norwalk, which makes some of the highest quality upholstery out there, which they’ve been doing since 1902. Their styles are wide-ranging, beautiful and they are extremely easy to work with.
This long-standing upholstery company was a new discovery for me and that is what market is all about! I was so impressed by everything in their line, including their high-end reclinerts. Nevermind they also fed us a delicious, homemade lunch!
The HVL Group manufactures many of the lighting lines we use on a regular basis. Everything from higher-end to those a little more budget-friendly, I feel like HVL always has such fun designs to choose from. I absolutely fell in love with the new like from Martyn Lawerence Bullard. It was just as fabulous as him.
Before our stop at their showroom, I was unfamiliar with Lloyd Flanders, but I am so excited to have learned about them now! They are some of the pioneers in making high-quality, woven outdoor furniture. I was really pumped to see some fall-friendly rust colors in their line and learning about their appreciation for craftsmanship.
Hello, Miami glam! Thought for a moment after I entered the JAMES by Jimmy DeLaurentis showroom that I had been transported to South Beach. Between the sea of gorgeous art deco inspired pieces and snazzy dog beds for the most pampered pooch, I was swimming through so much pretty.
Another fun market find, that was especially fun because I was amongst some fellow Texans. This sweet design studio and art gallery recently expanded with a glossy furniture line and I gotta say, it was absolutely drool-worthy.
Dome Deco was such an interesting discovery for me because they are one of the few vendors I’ve encountered that understands the whole home concept. They want to be the folks to provide everything from the light fixture to the flatware and everything in between. Originally a Belgian company, I am so thrilled they have now entered the US market.
Oh my old faithful, Four Hands. What I love about Four Hands (other than they are located basically in my backyard in Austin) is their versatility. They offer so many styles that can easily be implemented at the drop of a hat. Some of their new introductions were just so fun. I can’t wait to explore some more now that I’m back home.
Phew! That was an exhausting, but exhilarating day 1. Stay tuned to learn about day 2!
