We’ve had the opportunity to design new projects for clients looking to call Austin home. Whether you’re drawn to the live music scene, the picturesque hill country view, great food, a new job or all of the above, there’s never a dull moment in Austin.  So if you’re looking to move here, scouting it out or just visiting, we thought we would share some of our favorite must-see places.

Austin is definitely an outdoor city. Two of our favorite places to see include a walk through Zilker Park and paddle boarding on Town Lake. There is always something to see at Zilker, you can take in the view of downtown, enjoy the park or a concert. And when the weather is warm, you can bet Town Lake will be busy!

Take a drive out to Dripping Springs to visit over 50+ distilleries and breweries, it’s a growing part of the hill country that will not disappoint. And not too far beyond Dripping you can find the San Marcos, Comal or Guadalupe rivers. If you want to spend a day outdoors, try tubing one of these “Big Three”!

There’s no shortage of great food in Austin. No matter what type of cuisine you’re hungry for, you’ll find it here. Some of our favorites are Salt Lick BBQ, Red Ash Italia, Uchi and Matt’s El Rancho.  Salt Lick is located outside the city and has great views of the hill country. Matt’s will have a great margarita waiting for you!

One of the best things about Austin is the local shopping scene. And I can honestly say, there are plenty of shops where you can find vintage pieces, artisnal designs and reasonably priced local boutiques. There’s also the more mainstream options should you choose!  These are a few favorite shopping districts where you can find: 2nd St. downtown, Music Lane, South Congress and The Domain.

A trip to Austin just isn’t complete without some live music. Aptly named “The Live Music Capital of the World”, from the time you arrive, you can hear music playing all around. There are over 250 live music venues throughout the city. You can find musicians at clubs, coffeehouses, bars, taquerias, sporting events, and concert halls. These are just a few of our favorite spots! SAXON PUB, STUBBS, C BOYS, MOHAWK, VENUE ON E. 6TH, SCOOT INN, PARISH, ARMADILLO DEN
