4 September 2020

I can’t believe it’s September already! Fall is right around the corner and we’re all looking forward to cozying up by the fire (and indulging in pumpkin flavored everything, of course). Now is the perfect time to get a head start on your fireplace remodel so that it’s ready for all the Autumn vibes! Below you can find some of our favorite fireplace designs and inspiration.

Timeless Terracottas

There are endless amounts of options when choosing tiles for a fireplace, and it can get a bit overwhelming. However, you really can’t go wrong with a classic terracotta tile! This type of tile is timeless and brings a warm, earthy element into the space through its reddish-brown hues. We used a terracotta with a hexagon shape in one of our recent projects to give the fireplace a natural, yet modern look and it sure did complete the room!

A New Surround

Exposed brick fireplaces can be beautiful, but they aren’t for everyone depending on their style. A great way to make your fireplace fit a more modern aesthetic is to resurface the surround. Using plaster to cover your fireplace’s surround can give it a more light and simplistic feel – plus, you can easily paint that type of surface if you want to change the look even more. Resurfacing it with marble is also stunning and adds a luxurious element to the space. For a more sleek and modern approach, consider covering your surround with concrete.

Firewood Frenzy

This is one of my absolute favorites when it comes to fireplace designs – having a wall opening to display firewood. It gives the space such a cozy and custom feel and adds a rustic touch. Plus, it gives you more floor space because you won’t need to have a standing log holder!

Make A Statement

Fireplaces are the perfect opportunity to make a statement. Since they’re already in the center of a room, why not make them the focal point! A statement fireplace can be achieved in various ways. Paint, of course, is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to make a fireplace stand out. You can go all out and paint the entire thing, or just do the surround to bring in some contrast. Moody blues, deep greens, and rusts are my current favorite colors to use on a fireplace.

Tiles are also a popular way to make your fireplace the focal point of the room. Mosaic tiles add more pattern, thus making more of a statement. I love fireplace designs that mix mosaic tiles and a dark colored paint for extra contrast. Subway tiles also bring beautiful texture to a fireplace, especially when placed in a fun layout like a herringbone pattern.

Floor to Ceiling

A floor to ceiling fireplace always gives off the most luxurious vibes! This is a great option if you’re looking to open up the space and make it feel taller, as it creates an illusion that the walls are taller than they actually are.
