Thinking of remodeling or building? You likely already know you will need a builder and possibly an architect, but don’t forget about a designer! Designers are not just for the end-product of making a perfect vignette on your bookcase or zhushing your living space to make it feel like a home. Designers are key to making your space both smart and livable. We know how to hide those items that are necessary in a home but may not have a space of their own. A designer can help you devise fun and effective solutions that would add storage space you didn’t even know you needed. Here are some of our tricks for utilizing all the space in your home that you may have not considered as storage possibilities.
First up, the Kitchen! Even after Marie Kondo-ing your space there are still things that you must have in your kitchen that need a home. Custom pullouts can help you hide, but keep accessible all those spices and oils. And these custom drawers help conceal all those gadgets and their unsightly charging cords.

And one of my favorite hide-and-seek tricks is a built-in knife block.

Next up, Staircases. Did you know you can add pull out drawers under most staircases? I for one have a tight entry way in my home and this would be ideal for those heaps of kids shoes that find their home by our front door. Also, the space below a staircase is not always fully utilized. You can add built ins or shelving to take that wasted space and turn it into useful storage.

Now, for your bedroom there are some fun items I bet you haven’t considered. For instance, storage beds. Most of us have seen beds that have drawers on the side with handles that obviously look like storage beds, but did you know that there are now beds that have hydraulics that lifts your mattress up for storage underneath? These beds are actually storage beds as well and with drawers at the end that are designed to look like the bed frame!
Also, don’t forget your bedside tables. You can have over sized tables that double as a clothing dresser. Bench seats can be the perfect storage option for that niche in front of your bedroom windows.
Last and my personal favorite is a hidden game room! It’s the perfect place to confine all your kid items and the noise that a playroom typically produces. Also, how cool would it have been as a kid to show your friends a secret room!
Those ideas are just the tip of the iceberg and we have many more up our sleeves to help our clients create the perfect storage spaces to declutter their lives.
