With all of the unfortunate circumstances that have occurred over the last few weeks due to the Coronavirus Disease, we’ve been faced with a lot of changes in our everyday routine. Many of us have had to start working from home, which as nice as it sounds, actually makes it quite difficult to stay inspired and focused. It’s important that you have a designated place to get your work done and feel motivated. I’ve been working from my kitchen table these last few days and boy is it hard to get things done from here! Here’s some ways that you can create an inspiring workplace from your home, no matter how small your space may be.

Let There Be Light

Natural lighting is crucial for productivity, so be sure to choose a place in your home that has a window. Plus, seeing the outdoors through your window will help you not lose your mind while cooped up on your computer. If you don’t have a work space near natural lighting, consider getting a desk lamp to brighten up your area and your mind!

A Desk That Fits Your Space And Needs

A desk allows you to have a specific place to keep all of your work; where you can sit down and have all of your thoughts and materials in one spot. Not all of us have the luxury of having an open area in our home to place a standard desk, but look around and see if there’s any unused space where you could place one; like a corner in your room or a wall without furniture near it. There’s tons of creative and functional desk options online that work for small and awkward spaces. There are designs such as a floating wall-mounted desk or a ladder desk with shelves that won’t take up your precious space but still helps you get the job done.

Comfy Seating

You’re probably sitting at your desk for several hours a day, you might as well invest in a comfortable chair so that you are more focused on your work and not your aching back. You can find a bunch of different desk chair designs online that are affordable and stylish.

Storage

If your desk is lacking storage compartments, you might want to consider a storage solution so that you can keep all of your work materials handy and in one designated place. A wall shelf is always a good option, but also rolling carts can be super useful for organizing any space! I have a rolling cart next to my home workspace where I keep my files, notebooks, and office supplies.

Feel Inspired

Surround yourself with things that inspire you, relax you, and bring you joy. Add some plant friends, your favorite candle, or an inspirational quote to your workspace to bring a smile to your face and help you feel more balanced as you grind away on your computer. You could also frame some photos that remind you of your favorite people and memories like a family vacation or your wedding.

Keep It Clean And Organized

I don’t know about y’all, but I cannot completely focus if there’s a cluttered mess around me. Keeping your work area clean and organized will undoubtedly bring you a sense of relief and will declutter your mind as well.
