This young family of four reached out to us to help furnish and decorate their newly built home in Austin. We love getting to work with a blank slate because of the endless opportunities that there are for creating a remarkable design. We had so much fun teaming up with them to create the home of their dreams. Come take a tour!

Living Room

The primary reason that the homeowners bought this home was because of how open and spacious it was. They love to have friends, kids, and family over, so they knew that they needed their living room to accommodate all of their guests and entertaining needs. With that in mind, we designed this space with several seating options; two custom sofas from CR Laine and accent chairs from Bungalow 5. 

The home originally came with built-in cabinetry on each side of the fireplace. But we decided to make that entire wall a focal point by adding in floating shelves, custom metal and glass doors, and painting the existing cabinetry ‘Knoxville Gray’ by Benjamin Moore. 

“The metal cabinet doors were definitely our biggest challenge for this project. They’re each about 8 feet tall, which is about the size of a front door – giant and super heavy. It was hard to install them, and even to find someone to make them. Brian Chilton Designs was able to make them for us, and it was so worth it in the end. Dining Room

In the dining room, the goal was to create a setting that felt intimate and sophisticated, yet had an element of ‘wow’. We mixed rich, sleek materials, such as velvet dining chairs from CB2 and a metal sideboard from Four Hands, to give the room a refined setting. We brought in some visual interest and texture through a patterned rug, brass chain chandelier, and moody ceiling wallpaper with an abstract print.

Primary Suite

While the rest of the home was designed to be family and kid-friendly, the homeowners were the only ones in mind when we designed the primary bedroom. This couple wanted their bedroom to be a ‘kid-free’ place where they can escape and relax – like their own personal sanctuary. 

This room is all about balancing textural elements with light and airy materials. The nightstands from Worlds Away have to be one of our favorite pieces ever; they bring in such a beautiful, natural texture. To make this room really feel like the client’s personal resort, we included seating arrangements at the end of the bed and a bench near the wall for them to cozy up in.
