Alright, alright. You’ve heard me talk endlessly about the House Beautiful Whole Home — how it started, how it became a monster of a project, and everything in between. But now it’s time to get into the fun stuff: the spaces with the drama, the mood, and the real design magic. First up: the Kitchen, Pantry, and Bar.

When I first started working on the home’s design, I knew the kitchen needed to be the heart of it all. In this one magnetic room, everyone instantly gravitates, whether it’s a casual Tuesday-night dinner or a full-on holiday party. That intention set the tone for everything: a true entertainer’s kitchen, layered with craftsmanship, sculptural shapes, and materials that feel both warm and timeless. The kitchen itself went through many rounds of conceptualizing, including layout changes, island changes, and so much more.

The cabinetry in both the kitchen and pantry is painted Roycroft Bronze Green by Sherwin-Williams — an earthy, complex tone that shifts beautifully with the light. It’s moody without being dark, and instantly adds depth to the architecture. In the bar, we shifted the vibe slightly with Bohemian Black, giving this tucked-away moment its own identity while still connecting back to the main kitchen palette.
Paired with the soft veining of Walker Zanger quartzite on the counters and reeded island surround (more on that masterpiece in a second!), the whole room walks the line between refined and welcoming.

The star of the kitchen is the custom Tri-Oval island, a sculptural centerpiece designed for pure socializing. Instead of a traditional rectangular block, the rounded geometry creates softer movement through the room and encourages conversation from every angle. The leathered quartzite top adds a warmth and tactility that supports the overall aesthetic, and the real art here is where the stone is reeded and wraps the front of the island. If you love kitchens that feel alive, this one delivers.

An entertainer’s kitchen has to work hard, and this one does.
Everything has a place, and the workflow is designed for hosting without chaos.

Hidden just off the kitchen is the pantry — wrapped in a rich, movement-heavy Morris & Co wallpaper and textured tiles from Clay Imports, that instantly changes the vibe. Instead of treating it like a purely utilitarian space, we leaned into character.
It’s the kind of pantry that makes you want to stock up and bake something.

The bar takes the moody story a step further. Painted in Sherwin-Williams Bohemian Black, it’s the perfect place to pour a drink, prep a charcuterie board, or sneak a moment away from the bustle.
This is the place your guests will gravitate toward — guaranteed.
